HOW TO BE YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM’S MVP

Today, I want to focus on keeping the immune systems of you and your family supported.

First – what is your immune system? It’s your body’s defense against illness. It’s a network of cells and tissues that constantly scan for threats – like viruses or bacteria– and then attack.

Your immune system is always working for you, but it always needs your support and boosting it doesn’t happen overnight.

Here are my top 5 tips for supporting your immune system. They’re not in any particular order—each item is just as important as the next.

1- Sleep!

You need proper sleep for your body to restore its systems. When you aren’t getting the 7-9 hours of sleep your body craves, your helpful cells decrease and your immune system becomes suppressed. Studies have even shown a link between poor sleep and less protection from vaccines – like the flu shot. If you have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, message me. I can help you figure out what sedative essential oils could help you love your bed again.

2- Eat properly

Every single time you eat, you are either helping disease or fighting it.

Eating sugar, loads of processed foods, or foods low in nutrients, can actually curb the cells that fight off illnesses. That’s one reason when you’re sick, you might crave fruits and vegetables, or chicken soup. Foods rich in vitamins A, C, E, beta carotene and zinc can help you feel better faster. Eating these foods on a regular basis can help you stay well. Some foods you want to have in your diets could be brightly colored berries, citrus fruits, apples, kiwi, kale, sweet potatoes, garlic, spinach and onions. Bone broths and poultry can also boost your Vitamin b-6 levels, which are crucial to your body forming new red blood cells.

Supplementation is also a good thing. Taking a high quality multivitamin every day – like the one found in doTERRA’s Lifelong Vitality Pack – can help support your body, especially if your diet isn’t perfect. Who’s diet is?! There have been no studies to show that loading up on a particular vitamin supplement will help when you’re already down for the count.

3 – Heal your gut

Kind of goes along with eating right. So many of our illnesses can be traced back to a leaky or unhealthy gut. You can support your gut by eating whole foods and foods with fiber. Also reduce your stress level … it can be a challenge. That starts with sleeping well. You could also try meditation. Some essential oil blends like doTERRA Balance or Frankincense are great to diffuse in a water-based machine, or inhale from the bottle, to help support your stress levels and ground your mind.

Probiotics are also key. Eat probiotic rich yogurts, and take a great probiotic supplement. doTERRA’s PB Assist Plus is a cool-looking double layered veggie capsule delivering pre-bitoic fiber and 6 billion CFUs of active probiotic cultures.

You also want to drink plenty of water. It can help move toxins out of your system and keep your gut healthy and happy.

4-Exercise

There are no direct links to working out and a boosted immune system BUT there are so many benefits, it had to make this list. When your body is moving with intention, your blood pressure can lower, your mood is higher, your lymphatic system can be improved and your stress levels go down. These are all things that contribute to a lower risk of illness.

5- Have a positive attitude!

Studies have shown when people feel stress or angst about their situation, they are more likely to get sick .. while people who look at the bright side of life are less prone to illness. When people are depressed, they tend to get colds and flu more often, which can lead to more depression. There are many essential oils that can help support a positive mood – too many to list. Message me and we can come up with a plan.
